This primate safari Uganda tour gives you an encounter to the great Apes – Chimpanzees and Gorillas.  Kibale Forest National Park is well known for its various and large population of Primates in Africa. The most popular include the great chimpanzees and it’s acknowledged that Kibale has about 1450 chimpanzees well as Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to more than half of the world’s wild Mountain Gorilla population and was declared a Natural World Heritage Site in December 1994. World Heritage Sites are internationally recognized as natural features of outstanding beauty or scientific value. A good physical condition is a must for this gorilla tour.

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe

Welcome to Uganda – THE Pearl of Africa! Go through the necessary immigration procedures and thereafter, meet and greet by our representative. Transfer to your hotel in Entebbe for overnight.

Note: You can obtain a visa at a cost of $50pp from Immigrations upon arrival or if also traveling to Kenya and Rwanda, an East African tourist visa at a cost of $100pp.

Day 2: To Kibale Forest National Park

Morning breakfast, check out and head North Western via Kampala and travelling on a paved road, through various cultivated gardens of crops like bananas, tea plantations, rural homes and towns like Mityana, Mubende, Kyenjojo before reaching Fort Portal in time for lunch. Thereafter, proceed on a dirt road to Kibale Forest arriving in the early evening where the night falls with the sounds and whispers of the tropical rain forest.

Driving time: +/- 7 hrs

Day 3: In Kibale Forest National Park

After early morning breakfast, transfer to Kanyanchu Tourist Centre for briefing prior to the chimpanzee tracking activity. Have a morning spell in the forest as you track the Chimpanzees and other primates resident in this rainforest.  In the afternoon, have a Bigodi Swamp Walk. This is an initiative of the local people geared towards conservation in this area. On this walk you have chances for seeing different birds & butterfly species, primates like black and white colobus monkey, red tailed monkey, blue monkey, grey-cheeked mangabeys, etc. There is also a variety of interesting plant species.

Day 4: To Bwindi National Park

Morning breakfast, check out and take a long ride to Bwindi NP – THE Home of the Mountain Gorillas!

Note: As for gorilla tracking, the available gorilla section is what determines where clients stay.

Driving time: +/- 9 hrs

Day 5: Gorilla Tracking.

An early morning breakfast and together with our packed lunches and Gorilla trekking gear, report to the UWA park headquarters at Bwindi for registration and pre-briefing before you start the trek. After briefing and in groups of 8 pax each, enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure!! The beauty of this rain forest is spectacular. Time allowed to spend with the Gorillas is 1 hr. To many, a visit to these gentle and endangered giants is such an awesome, exciting and memorable experience to be long savoured! Note: The Gorilla trek may take up to 8hrs of hiking in the rugged terrain so good physical condition is a MUST!

 Day 6: To Entebbe and departure

Morning breakfast and check out of the “Home base of the Mountain Gorillas”. Depart with great memories of the moments spent with the amazing Gentle Giants! Drive back to Entebbe with en-route stop overs for lunch and a short visit at the Equator. Drop off at Entebbe International Airport for onward departure.

Note: Possibility of us taking you to a hotel / guesthouse where you can have dinner and refresh prior to your transfer to the Airport. Dinner is approx. $30pp and use of a day room is $130 for up market accommodation, $115 for midrange accommodation and $50 for budget accommodation.
