Our 5 day Lowland Gorilla Trek and Nyiragongo safari provides you with an opportunity to visit Kahuzi Biega National Park and Mountain Nyiragongo. You get to experience the Eastern Lowland Gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National Park as well as hike Mountain Nyiragongo, a sensational landmark in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Well as the Eastern Lowland Gorilla is the most prominent mammal in Kahuzi Biega National Park, there are not only 136 species of mammals identified in the park but also other primates like the Eastern chimpanzee among others.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Kigali – Rwanda

Meet and greet by our representative upon arrival at Kigali International Airport. Transfer to your Kigali hotel for check-in and overnight. Safari briefing!

Day 2

Kigali via Gisenyi to Bukavu – Congo:

After morning breakfast, enjoy a gentle drive to Gisenyi where you will have a stopover at the beach for a short leisure walk. After lunch, proceed to Goma and then onto Bukavu for the night. Enjoy a lake breeze and sunset whilst at Bukavu.

Day 3

Lowland Gorilla Trekking and then to Goma:

Trekking the lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National Park – Congo. Lunch break and transfer to Goma where you will spend the night in preparation for the volcano climb the next day.

Day 4

Goma to Nyiragongo Summit

Steep trek for 6-7 hrs up from 1989 m to 3470 m. Enjoy lava viewing at sunset. Overnight on top of the volcano rim.

Day 5

Nyiragongo Volcano to Kigali & Departure

Enjoy a morning lave lake viewing. Thereafter, descend down the volcano and transfer via Goma to Kigali with drop off at the airport in time for your departure flight.
